
Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 from 1937 to January 19 January 19, 2008) was an American film, theatre television, and voice actress. Pleshette began her career in theatre. She was a part of films in late 1950s. Later, she was an important actor in films such as Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (633) and Spirited Away (11). She was later seen in several television productions, mainly in guest roles, and she was Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 until 1978, receiving several Emmy Award nominations for her work. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan),[1 and Eugene Pleshette, was born on January 31, 1937, in Brooklyn Heights. The parents of the couple were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was an artist, dancer and choreographer, who performed under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was stage director for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
