Prior to turning ten, old she had lived throughout New York Chicago San Diego and Los Angeles. Andrea discovered an agent in San Diego and won her audition to play the role she wanted for her debut. Fusco explained the decision by saying "ALF has a lifespan of 285 years so he is old enough to drink beer." But as ALF gained more popularity with young children, NBC informed Fusco it was not appropriate to have him drinking when the children watch because it's not a good image to model. Fusco was of the opinion that ALF could be a drinker even as an adult. In 1995, he was identified with lymphoma.
