Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. The first time Selmon was born with Lucious and Jessie Selmon on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in his time in college. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his professional career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's top 10 young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the squad. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
